The Rand Easter Show is known as 'Joburg's Best Day Out', so it was wonderful to be a part of a talent event called 'Joburg's Talent' held over the weekend at the Nasrec Showgrounds. We took a new original song of ours called 'The Music Keeps on Playing' along to perform. You can catch the performance here https://youtu.be/zgofZrEvKdU https://randshow.co.za/joburgs-talent/
Songwriting can be a very personal endeavour, so it is so exhilarating to share brand new songs that have not yet seen the light of day with an enthusiastic audience. With two new songs needing some 'playtime' we took our fledgling tunes (Simple Love and The Music Keeps on Playing) along to the Writer's Round hosted by Alexandra May at Copperlake Bar and Grill, Broadacres 9 April 2019. Sharing the stage with Chad Jubber Music and Jono Johansen was an inspiration, hope [...]

The small town of Wakkerstroom is steeped in history, being the second oldest town in Mpumalanga, and the 6th oldest in the old Transvaal province. Far from being a relic of the past, however, this quaint "dorpie" is a bustling hub of activity for lovers of fine culture and nature alike. Recently crowned the "Jewel of Mpumalanga", Wakkerstroom is both a favourite destination for birding enthusiasts from around the country, due to its situation near a lush wetland environment, as [...]

Cherry Pill are thrilled to announce that they have been chosen to represent South Africa in the AfriMusic Song Contest for 2019 with their song 'Take a Bow'. Thank you so much for your performance on Saturday night, it was lovely and you created such a lovely atmosphere! -Host We enjoy performing for house concerts where young and old gather in a warm and inviting environment to listen to live music. Our youngest fan at Saturdays' event -a small toddler, decided to beat on a drum in time with our music while another young toddler twirled around like a ballerina.... simply enjoyable! Interested in hosting a house concert, give [...]
What a treat to have a mid-day performance for a High Tea at The Victorian Secret in Benoni. This venue is known for it's Macaroons, but all the goodies we had the pleasure of sampling were just delicious! The setting is lovely and well-appointed around an old oak tree. Find out more about this great spot at: http://thevictoriansecret.co.za
Cherry Pill joins the innovative blockchain-driven stream2own service Resonate. This totally new system for streaming/ownership is based on a top-up, pay-as-you-go model instead of the usual "all you can eat" monthly subscription. Streaming new songs starts at a few fractions of a cent, and gets incrementally more expensive for subsequent plays (because you love those songs, right?). If you play a song often enough (nine times, to be exact), you will own it forever, for less than the cost of [...]

Thanks to our wonderful host and Tania and Eelke for organizing it all.

Today we found ourselves giving an impromptu music appreciation class at a summer school near Amsterdam. The kids loved it and for many of them it was the first time they had ever held a real instrument. When asked what moods music can be, the first hands up said beautiful, happy and boring....they definitely didn't have a boring time with us!
Sunday afternoons are perfect for kicking back and listening to some live music. Concerto Records is a jam-packed store of music, anything you've ever wanted to find is probably here. Running passed a nearby open veld one morning, we initially thought we needed to get in touch with our council to cut the almost waist-high grass. But as the morning sun gently lit this patch of ground we saw it in a new light. Before the council comes to cut the grass, this is a great spot for a music video we decided. Johannesburg has been experiencing an unusually hot summer this season as a result of drought conditions. Fortunately [...]

On our recent tour through parts of the Beloved Country, we were fortunate enough to discover one of the somewhat hidden gems of the Karoo in the charming desert hamlet of Nieu-Bethesda. Nestled in the foothills of the towering and aptly-named Compassberg – the tallest mountain in the Eastern Cape Province, which juts out at an impossible angle above all its neighbours – this dorpie is home to a vibrant community of artists, writers, restaurateurs and fossil hunters (yes, [...]

Kristel and Rory of Cherry Pill decided to record Si Tu Savais as a tribute to some of the composers and songs that influenced them [...]
